I don't know what "Star Wars esque" means to literally anyone, and I am not really sure how it is "preachy," or how that is even much of a criticism. Also the story wasn't really as well done as KOTOR. I mean she was deep, she wasn't cryptic, she was just an old lady saying shit, some made sense the rest didn't. Something was off, not the gameplay but the narrative, the Republic was failing because of something they never explained that well, the whole thing with Atris and of course Kreia. the story was really gripping, and while I did play TSL with the restored content, that game didn't grab me. The fact that you could talk to your companions about their past and about planets, something which was missing in TSL, unless you did certain actions which means you could go the whole game without knowing the past of Mira, Atton etc. Of course there's the Ebon Hawk, loved that ship. I also like how it explains a bit more about why Trask was with the Republic Navy, one for the bounty hunting quests in Taris, the one you're hunting Selven, explains that the Organa Family placed a bounty on every single Ulgo, and he was able to escape. Then Trask is killed, I know he didn't say much about himself but when he went in to fight Darth Bandon just so you could live I actually did get angry he was killed and used that speech option when I was a Jedi. You just see what the Sith are capable of, like when one of them finish off a Republic soldier, he just throws a grenade killing people from his side and the Republic, they will not back down at all during the war and won't adhere to normal standards. You've just seen the opening crawl and you're thrust immediately into the action, unlike the second where you play as T3 who while is an awesome companion shouldn't have been the opening, and the whole time you are actually losing pretty badly. For one I the attack on the Endar Spire really hits the nail when it comes to an intro for a Star Wars game. I'm going to go with Knights of the Old Republic, instead of The Sith Lords.

This game really makes you think differently than a conventional Star Wars story. Kreia's idea of echos traveling through the force and wounds caused by actions really made you think about each decision that you made. Your character sees firsthand the consequences of the "save the galaxy against a huge threat" RPG. I loved Atton's comment that the rest of the galaxy doesn't see jedi and sith, they just see really powerful religious nutjobs that lay waste to planets when they have a disagreement. We got to see the civilian side of the galaxy. The galaxy is recovering from the war against Malak. Your character has lost their connection to the force and is being hunted down by sith assassins. The threat that is faced is quiet hidden in the shadows. It wasnt a conventional "save the galaxy against a huge threat" star wars RPG. It told a story that had never really been explored before. ||| Join our Discord! ||| Question?
